Today is Memorial Day. I think we lost something when it changed from Decoration Day to a three day weekend and we now call it Memorial Day. We need to remember the men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom, But we also need to rmember those who serve in any way and don't forget their families. We need to stop and think about our freedom and quit taking it so much for granted. Santa says thank you toall the men and women now serving or who have ever served.
I spent the day with my dad in his shop working on a new mantel for my fireplace. Vickie and I are doing a massive remodel in our living room. I hope to have it done before my new grandson goes on his mission. Actually I hope it is done before the summer is over.
The name for my blog address is for my grandson. I knew it was a boy before his mom did and he got the nickname bear long before he was born. I know he doesn't look big enough or mean enough to be called bear but that is what his granpa calls him, anyway.
This is a hoot, but I suspect the minister didn't appreciate it.
A minister was completing a temperance sermon.
With great emphasis he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it intothe river."
With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had All the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he Said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
Sermon complete, he sat down.
The song leader stood very cautiously and announced With a smile, nearly laughing, "For our closing song, Let us sing Hymn #365, "Shall We Gather at the River."
Goodnight All
