Living Room almost finished

I have been away from alot of things this summer due to a massive remodel of our living room. It is almost done. I just have to build some cabinet doors. Many people helped with this project and I want to thank them all. One of our good friends said this is our celestial room. Well it will be when we get our doors on. As with all construction projects it has taken longer and cost more than projected. It sure is a nice place to be though. And it has been worth every dollar. I am starting back to school tomorrow and Vickie is conviced I will not get this project finished, but I told her I will.

Grandpas Favorite Past Time

Grandpa gets to do what he likes to do best. I try to read to Isaac everytime we get together. We read everything from Dr. Suess to any book his mom or grandma give me. As you can tell at this time most of this log revolves arounf d my little bear. But since it is my blog a I can do what I want. Isaac is now eight weeks old. He is growing so fast. Being a grandpa is the greatest thing in the world.

Grandma gives Isaac a bath and washes his hair

Tonight Cathi called to see if Grandma was coming out to see her 'peanut'. She was curious because Vickie rarely goes more than two days without visiting her grandson. She ended up giving Isaac a bath and then she washed his hair. This was the first time she had washed his hair and the second time she had given him a bath without Cathi's help. Vickie was in seventh heaven. As we were coming home Vickie commented that when she is holding her grandson nothing else matters. I can't imagine why. Cathi likes having her mom out there because grandma takes care of her peanut, Cathi is free to get some things done she wants to do. I am glad Cathi calls her mom a lot because it means so much to her to actually be friends with Cathi and getting to be with her grandson is a very special added bonus.

Isaac was Blessed: Sunday, 1 June 2008

Sunday, June 1st, Isaac was blessed by his father and given the name Isaac Shawn McOmber. His father gave him an awsome blessing. Isaac's not quite as excited at this point in the day as are his mom and dad. There was great support from family and friends. In fact Cathi and Shawn probably had fifty people at their home after the block meetings to share in their joy. It was a special time as we were able to hear both Cathi and Shawn bear their testimonies. It has been a long time since I heard Cathi bear her testimony and she brought tears to her fathers eyes. Ask anybody and they will tell you I don't cry very often but Cathi has done it to me twice in the last seven weeks. First with the birth of Isaac and second with her testimony, but don't tell anybody, 'cause I don't want them to know I have a soft side. Shawn's blessing and his testimony didn't help the tough guy image of this old man either.

President Monson's Ear Wiggle

This is for all the Sisters who have heard about but have not seen the Priesthood Conference talk by President Monson, but have not seen him wiggle his ears. Enjoy

Thoughts on Several Fronts

Today is Memorial Day. I think we lost something when it changed from Decoration Day to a three day weekend and we now call it Memorial Day. We need to remember the men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom, But we also need to rmember those who serve in any way and don't forget their families. We need to stop and think about our freedom and quit taking it so much for granted. Santa says thank you toall the men and women now serving or who have ever served.

I spent the day with my dad in his shop working on a new mantel for my fireplace. Vickie and I are doing a massive remodel in our living room. I hope to have it done before my new grandson goes on his mission. Actually I hope it is done before the summer is over.

The name for my blog address is for my grandson. I knew it was a boy before his mom did and he got the nickname bear long before he was born. I know he doesn't look big enough or mean enough to be called bear but that is what his granpa calls him, anyway.

This is a hoot, but I suspect the minister didn't appreciate it.

A minister was completing a temperance sermon.
With great emphasis he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it intothe river."
With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had All the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he Said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
Sermon complete, he sat down.
The song leader stood very cautiously and announced With a smile, nearly laughing, "For our closing song, Let us sing Hymn #365, "Shall We Gather at the River."

Goodnight All

Quite Night - Time for Reflection

And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth. Abraham 4:1

As my house is quite tonight, my daughter, son in law and grandson have gone home. We had a lot of fun having them here tonight. Looking through some of my favorite web sites I paused at the pictures sent back by the Hubble Telescope. This picture made me think of the scripture I opened this rambling with. With a number of pictures showing the birth of stars, science and we are just beginning to realize and see what the Lord has taught for several thousand years, that is, there is order in all things. With the Mars landing today it will be intresting to see what science has to say about what ever they find on the Red Planet. It is getting late and with the lack of sleep I am having a hard time following one thought with another. I guess I better stop before it gets to deep for me.

Great Sunday Afternoon

Today, Cathi and Shawn decided to surprise Vickie and I at church and bring Isaac to our ward. We were not in our ward, because we had been invited to another ward to listen to Kent and Joy Paskins give their unofficial homecoming talks. Our good Bishop's wife Sally told them where we were. Vickie likes to sit on the front row but we were a little late and so we ended up on the back row. When Vickie saw Shawn look in the door she lit up like a Christmas tree and she was glad we were on the back row because she knew her grandson was there. Grandma got to show him off to friends in the old ward. The family is asleep and Grandpa is creating his blog. Cathi and Vickie will probably scrapbook until Grandpas little bear wakes up and then he will be hungry. When the family wakes up, I guess they will be hungry too and it will be up to me get them all fed, but that's what I do. And you know what I wouldn't trade it for anything.
